Manchester, commonly nicknamed 'the rainy city' earned its name this last week
Quoting directly from the Manchester Evening News (paper):
"Met Office statistics show that 70 mm of rain has already fallen across the north west during the first three weeks - 5 mm above the average norm for the entire month." - a fact I can confirm with my personal experience of a couple of weeks worth of rain every day (inter-dispersed with a few patches of dull grey rainless clouds
But today I woke up, at just before mid-day, due to a fire alarm in the small hours of this morning just as I was planning to sleep (as a consequence of which I stayed up until sometime after 3am), looked out my window and did a double-take of what I saw
Its a glorious day here for once and, despite the fact Im stuck indoors revising, I am happier with the world than I have been in quite a while its amazing what a little sunshine can do for your mood. I went shopping for food, and so that I could get a bit of sunlight without feeling guilty for being unproductive, and it was a delightful experience greatly improved by the fact that my friend has bought her car with her to uni and so was able to take my shopping in the boot of her car for me when they drove back to our flat
Even now as I sit here at my computer typing this and trying to learn about electrophilic substitutions of benzene I can remember that warm happy feeling I felt walking in the sunshine and Im greatly looking forward to going for a walk with my friend from the halls up the road, even my ginger beer seems to taste better in this kind of weather.
The only downer is that Im trying not to give in and have a glass of Pimms right now, as Im not drinking anything alcoholic until my exams are over (which baring Pimms in the sunshine is easy enough) but the ginger beer is good for now so I think I can say strong.
Anyway thats enough rambling from me now, time to get on with some more work and stop procrastinating

I'm in love with the darkness of the night
I'm in love with all that's out of sight
I'm in love with the magic of the new
And the darkness loves me, too
